Taal Zindagi: Rhythm of Life Percussion Orchestra, by Baluji Shrivastav, is a new commission from St. Ethelburgas Centre for peace and reconciliation which will premier at Croydon mela on Sunday 1st August, 2010.

This commission is inspired by the Rhythms of Life; be it the first beats of the heart, the patterns are in our speech and the way we walk, and  in the rain and the waves;  it is all around us going around and around in endless cycles.

Taal Zindagi  will be mainly composed for a range of North and South Indian Classical and folk musicians and  instruments such as. tabla tarang, naal, dhol, pakhavaj, mridangam, gopi, jaltarang, gungarus, morsing, shishtarang, gatam, canjara, plus drum kit and congas and clapping and stamping. A percussive ensemble to enthral.  The first performance at Croydon will feature young people of a variety of experiences participating with the ensemble.
